Sloped / hillside

How to use — sloped diagonal
  1. Measure the length and width of the foundation.
  2. Find the rise from one corner to the opposite corner across the diagonal.
  3. Compare the expected slope-tape reading to what your tape reads on the hill.
  4. Enter both slope diagonals to check if the foundation is square in plan view.

Tip: If the ground drops 2 ft across a 40 ft diagonal, your slope tape will read about 40.05 ft.
